From Curiosity to Community: The Story Behind the DeepFusion AI Labs Nepal Computer Science Researchers Meetup and Mini Conference

It started with a simple question. How much interest is there in research among students? And from that question, a research initiative was born.

Through its different phases, it brought together students and people interested in research, giving them a space to explore, learn, and connect. Eventually, we reached the point where five finalists had made it through the different stages of the initiative and were ready to present their research.

Reaching that stage was already such a big moment for everyone involved. Not just for the participants, but also for the organizing team, mentors, reviewers, and sponsors who had been part of the journey.

And that is where the story of the DeepFusion AI Labs Nepal Computer Science Researchers Meetup and Mini Conference began.

More Than Just a Celebration

With this new initiative, we did not just want to celebrate the finalists. We wanted to celebrate the moment itself.

Because at the end of the day, this was about promoting research among students. And what better way to do that than by connecting them with some of the best people in their field?

The mix of senior researchers, early career researchers, professionals, and research enthusiasts made the event even more meaningful. Everybody had somebody to look up to and learn from, while also having someone more junior to guide, mentor, or simply share their experience with.

And that felt like the perfect balance.

Not just for networking, but for building a community where sharing knowledge is essential.

The People Who Became Part of the Story

Of course, something like this does not happen because of one team alone.

There were people and organizations who became part of the story at different points, and we are genuinely grateful to every one of them.

DeepFusion AI Labs

Our Title Sponsor, DeepFusion AI Labs, became a part of the story in a way that went beyond simply supporting the event.

They became part of the identity of the event itself. Their support did not just help us make the meetup possible financially. They also showed up for the community we were trying to build.

We had multiple representatives from DeepFusion AI Labs join us and share valuable insights throughout the event, and having Mr. Nitesh Gautam with us as both a speaker and a judge made the experience even more meaningful. We also had Mr. Sojan Prajapati as our guest speaker and Ms. Apala Timalsina as our reviewer for this initiative.

For our participants, it meant having someone from the professional world to learn from and someone with experience in the field to give them feedback on their research.

For us, it meant seeing our Title Sponsor actively become part of what the event was trying to achieve.

And honestly, that is something we appreciate a lot.

The branding, promotion, and all the other ways we incorporated DeepFusion AI Labs into the event can be documented, but those things do not really capture how grateful we are for the trust they placed in the initiative and for being present throughout it.

Career Link

We are equally grateful to Career Link, a platform that truly understands what it means to connect people with opportunities.

Their involvement became part of the event from the registration stage itself, and having their representatives attend the meetup gave participants the chance to interact with them, understand their platform, and see how something like this could continue beyond the event itself.

That was one of the things we really valued about their presence.

The event was about creating connections, and Career Link naturally became a part of that idea.

We are also incredibly grateful to Gurzu for supporting not just the final mini conference, but the entire Scholars in the Making initiative.

Being there from the start meant recognizing potential before it had fully bloomed.

The event was not just about networking, research, and conversations.

What Stayed With Us

And that is how the Scholars in the Making journey came together.

It started with people who were unfamiliar with one another, many simply curious and wanting to see what the initiative was about.

By the end, people were leaving with valuable connections, new information about research, opportunities to network, and experiences that went beyond the competition itself.

Along with the prizes and recognition, they also left with something harder to put a value on: exposure to the field, conversations with people working in it, and connections that can continue beyond the event.

Many events and competitions happen, but when you leave one with something meaningful that stays with you, something that gives you knowledge, a new perspective, or someone to reach out to, we believe that is what makes the experience truly worthwhile.

And that is something we are genuinely proud of.

The Story Continues

For us, the story does not end with the closing of the event.

At IEEE Computer Society Pulchowk Student Branch Chapter, we document the stories behind our initiatives through dedicated blogs on our website.

We want our events to exist beyond posters, photographs, and social media posts.We want to remember how an idea started, how it grew, the people who became part of it, and the organizations that believed in it.

It also gives us a way to appreciate our sponsors and partners in a more meaningful way, because their contribution should not simply end when the event does. They became part of the story, and we want that story to stay. And this is that story.

A story that started with a question about student interest in research, grew into an initiative, brought people together, and eventually became a community where students, researchers, professionals, and industry could learn from one another.
